Product Word Excerpt seems not to work

In the product gallery I hope to have an excerpt of the product description text on the gallery page. But either I can not find how this is done or?

So, I my best guess was to goto Dashboard/ Northeme / Theme Options / Shop / Woocommerce / Thumbnails

Under Thumbnails is a field in which the word count for an excerpt can be inserted. It says 20 words is the defalt. So fine 20 words would be great. I want the excerpt under the thumbnail. However it appears that even if the limit is set to 20 I still get all of the text for the product description. What's up? What am I doing wrong or how do I get a limit? Help!
